←Kitchen Tune-Up in Dallas Named as a Project of the Year Award Winner
Congratulations to Wes Wayland! Wes is among five of our franchise locations to receive the prestigious Project of the Year Award for 2017.
To qualify for this award, a franchise must have won a Project of the Month award in the previous year. The projects are then voted on by Kitchen Tune-Up franchisees from across the nation. Out of the hundreds of submissions received throughout 2017, five projects earned the praise and votes from our franchise family.
Wes and his team completed this Refacing Plus for clients in Frisco, Texas. The homeowners first met his team at a Home Show they visited, knowing a kitchen update was something they were excited about. They had relocated from the Midwest to the Dallas suburbs and their home is just over fifteen years old. They wanted to change the golden oak and were seeking a more modern and transitional style. Their children are in college the home isn’t their “forever home,” so they did keep resale value in mind when choosing finishes. “These were great people to work with,” said Wes. “They had a specific vision in mind for their space when we met. It was fun to incorporate their ideas and they also kept the style of the home in mind. This kitchen was a great fit for Refacing Plus and the new space is very functional.”
Many of the original cabinet boxes remained, but the “Plus” to this Refacing Plus project includes many modifications and customizations. The island was updated to remove the two-tiered breakfast bar. It was extended with custom-design support legs. It now has much more prep and work space, and they can use standard size stool for seating. A new farmhouse sink was added, and the cabinetry was refaced using new maple shaker doors and drawer fronts – white on the perimeter and featherstone gray on the island. All the doors and drawers were upgraded to soft close hinges and slides. A tall oven was added with accent doors above. The cabinet over the cooktop was removed to accommodate a new vent hood. A new 24” deep cabinet was added above the refrigerator for ease of access. Other additions include new pendant lights above the island and table, LED lights above and below the wall cabinets, beautiful new granite countertops and backsplash (including the herringbone pattern above the new cooktop), and all new hardware. The original flooring remained, and the clients had the walls painted a new color.
